Kolejny atrakcyjny punkt pojawił się na Szlaku Rzeźb Balansujących. W Bydgoszczy nad Młynówką, przy moście, u wejścia na ulubioną przez mieszkańców miasta i turystów Wyspę Młyńską, w lipcu 2025 r. zaistniała rzeźba wioślarza o tytule Na mecie. Może warto przypomnieć, że nastąpiło to niespełna miesiąc od montażu Wikliniarki, która plecie kosze nad ul. Jatki.
Wioślarz (Na mecie) to emanacja lekkości błękitnej formy niosącej istotne i cięższe treściowe i ideowe przesłania - to jeden ze współczesnych herosów sportu, który nie tylko płynie, ale unosi się nad torem wodnym. Formalną, plastyczną i balansową istotą założenia jest duże wychylenie postaci poza obrys liny. To kolejne wyzwanie konstruktorskie, które narzucił sobie artysta, ukazujące inny rodzaj ruchu i ciążenia. Zbliżenie kompozycji do lustra wody powoduje wzbogacenie rozgrywek formalnych kompozycji o lustrzane odbicia w toni
i słoneczne bliki rzucane z wodnych fal na detale rzeźby. Trudności konstruktorskie nie przeszkodziły artyście oddać postać wioślarza z finezją i lekkością rzeźbiarskiego kunsztu. To opowieść o dążeniu do harmonii i utrzymywaniu chwiejnej równowagi - życiowej i artystycznej. Bo to taka cicha, balansująca propozycja między ruchem a spokojem, między historią miasta a nową ścieżką sztuki, idealna odskocznia od szarego dnia w centrum miasta.
Z wypowiedzi artysty: "chciałem w "Wioślarzu" przemycić albo podkreślić kolejny symbol bydgoskich tradycji wioślarskich, długich i pięknych. Wcześniej w "Przechodzącym" nad Brdą sygnalizowałem wejście bydgoszczan do Unii Europejskiej, powiązanie go z "Łuczniczką" i Szwalbem, a w "Wikliniarce" usytuowanej nad ul. Jatki podkreślam tradycje handlu i rzemiosła tego miasta. O odwołaniach do tradycji mogę też mówić i przy innej mojej „ruchliwej” kompozycji "Mistrzu Twardowskim" z Rynku - to utrwalanie i szerzenie legendy. W zamierzeniach włodarzy miasta są dalsze propozycje, których się zapewne podejmę, ale jeśli to nawet tajemnica poliszynela, to ja jej na razie zdradzał nie będę".
To emblematyczne dzieło wzbogaciło kolekcję Muzeum Okręgowego w Bydgoszczy. Rzeźba została zakupiona ze środków Miasta na wyraźne życzenie bydgoszczan, którzy nie wyobrażali sobie, że Wioślarz nie powróci do nich po cieszącej się ogromną popularnością wystawie "Uniesienie" zorganizowanej w 2024 r. przez Młyny Rothera
z okazji 20-lecia wejścia Polski do Unii (wydarzenie było uświetnione w Bydgoszczy m.in. instalacją kultowego już w mieście "Przechodzącego przez rzekę”).
Jubileusz 20-lecia pojawienia się "Przechodzącego" w Bydgoszczy (który zainicjował szlak balansjerów w Polsce) odnotowało także Wydawnictwo Pejzaż, które opublikowało obszerny i bogato ilustrowany album pt. "JERZY KĘDZIORA. Przechodzący Bydgoszcz - początek Szlaku Rzeźb Balansujących".

At the Finish Line (A Rower)

Another attractive landmark has appeared on the Balancing Sculptures Trail. In Bydgoszcz, on the Młynówka River, near the bridge at the entrance to Mill Island, a favorite among city residents and tourists, a sculpture of
a rower titled "At the Finish Line" appeared in July 2025. It may be worth recalling that this occurred less than a month after the Wikliniarka (Wickerworker) was installed.
The Rower (At the Finish Line) is an emanation of lightness in a blue form carrying both essential and weighty messages of substance and ideology – he is one of the modern heroes of sport, who not only swims but also floats above the waterway. The formal, artistic, and balancing essence of the design is the figure's significant deflection beyond the rope's outline. This is another design challenge the artist imposed on himself, revealing a different kind of movement and gravity. Bringing the composition closer to the water's surface enriches the composition's formal play with mirror reflections in the depths and sunlight cast from the waves onto the sculpture's details. Structural difficulties did not prevent the artist from rendering the rower with the finesse and lightness of sculptural craftsmanship. It is a story about striving for harmony and maintaining a precarious balance – in life and in art. Because it is such a quiet proposition, balancing between activity and peace, between the history of the city and the new path of art, the perfect escape from a gray day in the city center.
From the artist's statement: In "The Rower," I wanted to smuggle in or emphasize another symbol of Bydgoszcz's long and beautiful rowing traditions. Previously, in the "Man Crossing the River" on the Brda River, I signaled Bydgoszcz's entry into the European Union, linking it to "The Archer" by Andrzej Szwalbe, and in "The Wickerworker," situated above Jatki Street, I emphasize the city's trade and craft traditions. I can also speak of references to tradition in another of my "busy" compositions, "The Master Twardowski" from the Market Square—it's about perpetuating and spreading the legend. The city authorities have further proposals in mind, which I will likely undertake, but even if it's an open secret, I won't reveal them for now.
This emblematic work has enriched the collection of the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz. The sculpture was purchased with city funds at the express request of the residents of Bydgoszcz, who couldn't imagine that the Rower wouldn't return to them after the hugely popular "Elation" exhibition organized in 2024 by Rother's Mills to mark the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union (the event was honored in Bydgoszcz, among other things, with the installation of the now-iconic the "Man Crossing the River").
The 20th anniversary of the appearance of the "Man Crossing the River" in Bydgoszcz (which initiated the trail of balancers in Poland) was also celebrated by Pejzaż Publishing House, which published a comprehensive and richly illustrated album entitled "JERZY KĘDZIORA. Man Crossing the River Bydgoszcz - the beginning of the Balancing Sculptures Trail."
